Master the Sweet Spot (1.5 to 2.5 PSI)

Your bladder is a low-pressure, high-volume product. You want to inflate it to a pressure of 1.5 to 2.5 pounds per square inch. Avoid high-pressure air compressors, as they can easily burst the seams. Instead, use high-volume electric pumps or specialty cordless pumps designed to top out at 2.5 psi.

Take the "Stand Test"

No pressure gauge? No problem. First, check the nylon cover—it should be taut and mostly wrinkle-free. Next, try the Stand Test: step onto the tube. An adult standing on the fully inflated bladder should only cause it to slightly depress about 1 inch. If you sink any further, you need more air.

Adjust for Water and Sun

Cold lake water causes air to contract, making boat innertubes feel soft. Inflate your tube firmly, let it sit on the water for a few minutes, and then top it off. Conversely, if you leave your tube on a hot dock or beach, the hot sun will cause it to expand. Always let a little air out when resting on land so it doesn't pop.

Ready for the Wake

Taking care of your bladder ensures you won't be scrambling for towable tube replacements mid-summer. Remember, when you need a backup or an upgrade, you can always buy your boat tube replacements from us! Keep your tube firm, adjust for the temperature, and enjoy the ride. Shop today.
